Pink Drainer ‘steps back from the grind’ after stealing $75M from victims

Prolific wallet-draining service Pink Drainer has announced its retirement in a private Telegram chat, according to blockchain sleuth ZachXBT. The scam-as-a-service apologizes for “the lack of prior notice” before thanking its many customers, phishing scam mers who have used it to steal more than $75 million over the past year. Hackers managed to steal $2 billion in crypto in 2023, but for the first time since 2020, the trend is showing a decline. Throughout 2023, scammers and hackers executed numerous cyberattacks and rug pulls, resulting in the theft of approximately $2 billion worth of cryptocurrency, as reported by De.Fi, a web3 firm. A newly discovered vulnerability in the Libbitcoin Explorer 3.x library has allowed over $900,000 to be stolen from Bitcoin users, according to a report from blockchain security firm SlowMist. The vulnerability can also affect users of Ethereum, Ripple, Dogecoin, Solana, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash and Zcash who use Libbitcoin to generate accounts.
